RADIO PACIUGO
Domenico Ragano was born in Avellino 46 years ago. A mathematics teacher and wanderer, he is still deeply moved by music.
Domenico’s passion for radio is a long story, shaped through the creation of various experimental and non-experimental forms of radio expression.
From 2004 to 2008, Domenico trained at an independent FM radio station in the Malvarosa neighborhood of Valencia, Radio Malva, which is still active today.
Through his weekly program “Sobresaltos de humor salvajes” (Wild Mood Swings), he began experimenting with his first radio formats, alternating guests, musicians, and speakers in a frenetic, improvised production style. At the same time, he explored analog sound and acquired the technical knowledge needed to properly stream audio—a task that was not easy to achieve at the time.
Deeply affected by this experience, he realized that radio could be a tool for personal emancipation and creative development, as well as an important space for collective connection.
In 2010, while in Belgium, he founded INeeDRadio, a mobile studio dedicated to recording live bands and broadcasting talk programs while traveling.
Later, INeeDRadio began its first in-studio experiences, hosted in various social spaces and squats in Brussels.
In 2012, he moved to Berlin, renaming the project INeeDRadio Funkhaus to reflect a collaboration with the socio-artistic project Funkhaus Grünau Berlin, and establishing its headquarters in one of the radio studios of the German national radio from the Nazi era. INeeDRadio closed in 2015, after a short but wonderful experience in a home studio in Santo Stefano del Sole, Domenico’s hometown. It left behind a legacy of 21 weekly multilingual programs, hundreds of band recordings, events across multiple European countries, and a showcase festival for its artists (INEEDFESTIVAL).
After this experience, Domenico continued to support associations in launching their own radio projects, such as Radio Onda Vibrida in Bologna and GLAS PLAVA FM in the town of Plav (Montenegro).
He has now decided to bring his experience to the creation of Radio Paciugo.
